WHAS
up! I’m Angelucci Lugo or better known to all as Lugo (for those who have
a hard time pronouncing my fist name). I was born in the town of Rome, Italy
and my parents are Spanish and Italian. They moved first to Puerto Rico
and then to New York!
I spent most of my life in New York and went though what was called the "New York School process". We lived in upper Manhattan on the east side - El Barrio 119th Street. It was tough growing up in El Barrio but I made it. As I got to my last years of high school I decided to go into the army. Army life was good. Where else can you do just about anything and get paid for it? I love it but had to leave as I suffered an accident. They offered me a "seat job" but that it wasn't for me. I got back to New York and was able to do the unthinkable - I got into the New York Police department. I was there for 4 years and decided to move because... ...I went to Puerto Rico for vacation with my mother and grandmother and fell in love. I started working in security in one of the many hotels on the island. I steadily progressed and became the assistant director of security and risk management for a well known hotel in Isla Verde. I was working 6 days a week and 10 hours a day that thought "There must be something better out there!" I did the Army. The NYPD. Now what? One day as I was doing undercover operations at a pharmaceutical company in Manati, I met Benny. Benny was the company driver and he was a Divemaster. He made a comment that he was going scuba diving that weekend. After asking him so many questions, he decided to invite me to go diving with him. I said, "Hell yeah!" and went out. He explained how to equalize my air spaces and I took to diving like a fish to water. I didn’t get certified until a year later. As luck would have it, while I was working undercover on a beach someone there asked me about diving. Where could he go? Where can he rent equipment? What’s out there? How’s the underwater sea life here? And thought "Wow, Benny told me the same about diving." I decided to take my classes and be an instructor. It took me two years, a lot of money, and traveling to Florida a couple times but I made it. As a certified PADI IDC Staff Instructor I can teach and certify the most basic beginner diver courses to assistant instructors. You can learn the following diving certifications:
